2004 In Review
Dear Mayor, Council Members, and Staff:
2004 has been an exciting year with accomplishments such as completion of the Strategic
Plan, recipient of three grants, the development and implementation of the Senior
Volunteer Program, the completion of the first art enhanced water tank and more. The
focus for 2005 are MAC's web site, membership, more and conveniently located art
classes for adults and youth, fundraisers, and more open and frequent communication
with the Town.
MEMBERSHIP
A new Membership Committee has been formed to address this area of concern.
Committee Members: Debbie Ferns, Sally Jackson, and Meg Wallace.

United Way Grant - We were not successful this time, however, MAC will still
follow through with the new Senior Volunteer Program.
Marana Water Tank Enhancements
MAC completed its first water tank in the Honea Height neighborhood, located on
W. Sandy Street.
Funding: The Town of Marana authorized MAC to commission the artist, and the
Town committed to providing the paint and equipment needed to complete the
project safely. MAC budget for the cost of the artist, Tony Cruz, was in the
amount of $2,917.85. The design was that of Marana High School art students
and teacher/artist Brian Jones.
Volunteer Program
The Marana Arts Council began its Senior Volunteer Program in late August.
MAC has put together a training program for the volunteers that will educate
them in the arts and more. Our vision is that these volunteers will be well
informed about all of MAC's offerings, including special events, lectures,
workshops, field trips, gallery exhibits, and the arts in general, basic history of
Marana and its current leaders.

Luninaria del Pueblo
MAC is pleased to be selected by two corporations, Westward Look Resort and
Gladden Farms, as the non-profit organization that will receive the proceeds from
a gala auction in April 2005.
Artist Calendar
The Marana Arts Council authorized a committee to have a call to artists for the
purpose of developing a calendar as a fundraiser to promote MAC and member
artists. The calendar project served us well as marketing. Beginning in January
2005, the calendar, along with a welcome letter will be given to new home buyers
in the Marana area.
Pony Art Proiect Winners
Winning artwork toured MUSD Elementary Schools and District Office.
Adopt-A-School
The Adopt-A-School program was created by MAC to encourage local businesses
to partner with MUSD elementary schools by providing them with needed art
supplies for the classrooms.
MAC passed the baton on to each MUSD elementary school and their
parent/Teacher groups PTF to continue the program.
Art Training for Elementary School Teachers
(2004) -Completed the fall training to all MUSD elementary school teachers. (K
through 6th grade)
Evaluation response: 45 responded with one teacher marking a score of 9 and 44
teachers giving a score of 10 with 10 being the highest score.
Funding: Donations, grant, and MAC General Fund.

Committees have been working on the web page and newsletter. Plans are to have the
Web Site up and running by late January. Staffwill keep the site current.

Barbeque for Families $5.00 per person; Youth art show, youth and adult
entertainment, hands on art and more.

2005 area of focus is to provide many more classes in convenient locations.
