A. 3 TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL FROM: Jocelyn C. Bronson, Town Clerk SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2005-33: Relating to Elections; adopting the results of the primary election held on March 8, 2005. DISCUSSION Pursuant to A.R.S. § 16-646, the governing body of a city of town must meet to canvass the votes after a primary and/or a general election. This must be done not less than six days nor more than 15 days after an election. The official canvass is attached. ATTACHMENTS Pima County Official Canvass, Primary Election March 8, 2005. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of the Official Canvass. SUGGESTED MOTION I move to adopt Resolution No. 2005-33. JCB/03/11/2005/12:30 PM RESOLUTION N0.2005-33 RELATING TO ELECTIONS; ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE PRIMARY ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 8, 2005. WHEREAS, the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, did hold a primary election on the 8th day of March, 2005, for the election of four Council Members; and WHEREAS, the election returns have been presented to and have been canvassed by the Town Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, as follows: SECTION 1: That the total number of ballots cast at said primary election, as shown by the poll lists, was 614. SECTION 2: That the number of ballots to be verified was 2 (provisional), and that votes found to be rejected were 0. SECTION 3: That the votes cast for the candidates for Council Member were as follows: Name Vote Total Patti Comerford 562 Tim Escobedo 546 Herbert Kai 553 Carol McGorray 579 SECTION 4: That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record, that the following four candidates did receive more than one-half of the total number of valid votes cast and will be issued certificates of election after the May 17th general election: Patti Comerford Tim Escobedo Herbert Kai Carol McGorray SECTION 5: This resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption.
