AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, APdZONA, DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A DROUGHT AND FIRE EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the lack of precipitation in the Town of Marana has caused drought conditions to exist, with vegetation becoming extremely dry; and WHEREAS, weather forecasts for the coming months indicate higher than normal temperatures; and WHEREAS, the continued dry weather and high winds will cause the potential for wildfires in all parts of the town; and WHEREAS, conditions now exist that have created in critical shortage of water and range feed for livestock; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana is authorized to declare a local emergency; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, that a drought and fire emergency now exists in the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona; and that the Emergency Water Conservation Measures may be implemented by the Council if the need arises due to the drought conditions; and that the areas contained within the boundaries of the Town of Marana are hereby included in this declaration.
