HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2005-065 federal transportation enhancement funds to implement phase 3 of the Santa Cruz River shared use path project MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2005-65 RELATING TO PUBLIC WORKS; AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS TO IMPLEMENT PHASE 3 OF THE SANTA CRUZ RIVER SHARED USE PATH PROJECT BETWEEN CORTARO ROAD AND THE COYOTE TRAIL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. WHEREAS, The west bank of the Santa Cruz River between Cortaro Road, and the Coyote Trail Elementary School currently has no pedestrian and/or bicycle facilities or landscaping; and WHEREAS, The proposed project would provide such facilities, as well as provide valuable safety improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists wishing to access Coyote Trail Elementary School, area neighborhoods, commercial areas in the vicinity of Cortaro Road and Silverbell Road, and the future Silverbell-Cortaro District Park; and WHEREAS, The Town of Marana has successfully utilized Transportation Enhancement funds to procure construction services for other segments of this project, including Phase 1 ftom Twin Peaks Road to El Rio Park, and Phase 2 ftom Coyote Trail Elementary School to Twin Peaks Road. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, THAT: 1. An application for Federal Transportation Enhancement reimbursable grant assistance to implement Phase 3 of the Shared Use Path project be filed with the appropriate agency. 2. The maximum amount of reimbursable funds available through the Federal Transportation Enhancement Program is $500,000. The estimated project cost is $720,000. The Town will be responsible for all costs above $500,000. If the project costs are below $500,000, then the Town will provide matching funds equal to 5.7% of those costs. As required, the Town of Marana will also pay ADOT a $3,000 processing fee if the Federal reimbursable funds are approved for the project. 3. The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign any and all documents to effectuate the grant application, and any subsequent amendments and/or documents relating thereto.
