AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING AND INCREASING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 9, CHAPTER
4, ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES, AND AMENDMENTS THERETO, BY ANNEXING
THERETO THAT TERRITORY ENCOMPASSING PORTIONS OF SECTIONS 29 AND 32,
TOWNSHIP 12 SOUTH, RANGE 12 EAST, GILA AND SALT RIVER MERIDIAN, PIMA
COUNTY, ARIZONA AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE TOWN'S BOUNDARIES.
WHEREAS, petitions in writing, accompanied by a map or plot of said real property, having
been filed and presented to the Mayor and Council ofthe Town of Maran a, Arizona, signed by the
owners of over fifty percent ofthe value of the real and personal property and over fifty percent of
the persons owning real and personal property that would be subject to taxation by the Town of
Marana as shown by the last assessment of said property, said property is contiguous to the Town of
Marana, and not now embraced within its limits, asking that the property more particularly
hereinafter described be annexed to the Town of Maran a, and to extend and increase the corporate
limits of the Town of Maran a so as to embrace same; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, are desirous of
complying with said petitions and extending and increasing the corporate limits of the Town of
Marana to include said territory, which is approximately 267 acres; and
WHEREAS, the Lazy K annexation is an area within Sections 29 and 32, Township 12
South, Range 12 East, Gila and Salt River Meridian, Pima County, Arizona; and
WHEREAS, the petitions set forth a true and correct description of all the exterior boundaries
ofthe entire area proposed to be annexed to the Town of Maran a and had attached thereto at all times
an accurate map of the territory desired to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, no alterations increasing or reducing the territory sought to be annexed have
been made after any petition was signed by any owner of real and personal property in such territory;
and
WHEREAS, the zoning classification on the maj ority of the property prior to annexation was
"Pima County Zone SR" (Suburban Ranch) with the historical use of the property as a guest ranch
with lodging and related ancillary activities which are legal nonconforming uses under the (SR)
zoning, which will translate to the "Town of Marana Resort and Recreation (RR) and the R-144
(Residential) Zone" in the Town's Land Use and Development Code.

WHEREAS, the provisions of A.R.S. S 9-471, and all amendments thereto, have been fully

observed; and
WHEREAS, proper and sufficient certification and proof ofthe foregoing facts are now on
file in the office ofthe town clerk ofthe Town of Maran a, together with a true and correct copy of
the original petition referred to herein, which is on file in the office of the county recorder.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Town ofMarana,
Arizona, that:
1. The territory known as the Lazy K annexation is annexed into the Town of Maran a
and that the present corporate limits are extended and increased to include the
described area.
2. A copy of this Ordinance, together with an accurate map of the territory hereby
annexed to the Town of Marana, certified by the Mayor of said Town, be forthwith
filed and recorded in the office of the County Recorder of Pima County, Arizona.
3.
The zoning classifications of "Pima County Zone SR" (Suburban Ranch) is hereby
changed to "Town of Marana Zone RR (Resort and Recreation) and R-144"
(Residential).
4. On file in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Maran a, Arizona, are those
certain documents, known as Exhibits A and B, which are recorded and hereby
referred to, adopted, and made a part of Ordinance No. 2001.22, describing and
illustrating the Lazy K Marana annexation area.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council ofthe Town of Maran a, Arizona, this

RIVER MERIDIAN, PIMA COUNTY, ARIWNA, SAID PORTIONS BEING MORE PARTICULARLY
DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
COMMENCING AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE NORTH LINE OF THE NORTHWEST
QUARTER OF SAID SECTION 29 WITH THE WESTERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE OF NORTH
SCENlC DRIVE AS DESCRIBED IN ROAD PROCEEDINGS NO. 0255 WHICH IS A LINE 30.00
FEET WESTERLY OF AND PARALLEL WITH THE EAST LINE OF SAID NORTHWEST
QUARTER, SAID POINT BEING ALSO A POINT ON THE MARANA TOWN LIMITS AS
DESCRIBED IN ORDINANCE NO. 88-01;
THENCE SOUTHERLY, ALONG SAID WESTERLY RIGHT-OF-WAY LINE AND MARANA TOWN
LIMITS, TO AN INTERSECTION WITH THE NORTH LINE OF THE SOUTH HALF OF SAID
