AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2 OF
THE TOWN CODE, BY CHANGING SECTION 2-4-4 (PROCEDURES FOR MEETINGS) AND
APPENDIX A (AGENDA FORMAT) MAKING CHANGES TO THE AGENDA AND ORDER
OF BUSINESS.
WHEREAS, the Town Council did approve Ordinance No. 96.13, which adopted Chapter
2 of the Town Code entitled "Mayor and Council" which outlines the duties and rules to be followed
by the Mayor and Council, three copies of which are on file in the office of the Town Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council has amended the Town Code from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the Town Code contains Chapter 2, Section 2-4-4, concerning the Town
Council Order of Business; and

WHEREAS, the Town Code contains Chapter 2, Appendix A, concerning the official agenda
form; and
WHEREAS, in order to assure compliance with state law, the Town Council finds it
necessary to amend the Marana Town Code Section 2-4-4 and Appendix A; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Maran a,
Arizona, as follows:
Section 1. Section 2-4-4 and Appendix A of the Marana Town Code entitled "Procedures for
Meetings" and "Agenda Format" respectively, are hereby amended as follows, with additions in ALL
CAPITAL LETTERS and deletions in stlikc,out tc,xt:

The following procedure will generally pertain to all regular and special town council
meetings, study sessions, joint meetings with other entities, retreats, subcommittee
meetings, task force meetings, and all other meetings held pursuant to the open meeting
law:

Call to the public: persons wishing to address the council on an item not already on
the agenda may do so, although each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. The
mayor or council may limit the total time offered speakers. All such remarks shall
be addressed to the council as a 'vvhole, and not to any specific member. No person

other than the 5peaker 5hall enter into the di5cu55ion without the perrr,i5gion of the
mayor. The council may not congider or vote upon any petition, comment, or
announcement made by the public, although the5e item5 may be placed on a future
agenda. AT THE CONCLUSION OF CALL TO THE PUBLIC, INDIVIDUAL
MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL MAY RESPOND TO CRITICISM MADE BY
THOSE WHO HAVE ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL, MAY ASK STAFF TO
REVIEW THE MATTER OR MAY ASK THAT THE MATTER BE PLACED ON
A FUTURE AGENDA.

the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Marana tovm hall, although the
date or time may change, or special meetings may be called at other times and/or places.
Contact to'v'~'n hall or watch for posted agendas for other meetings. This agenda may be
fe'vised up to t'vventy-four hours prior to the meeting. In such a case a ne'N agenda will be
posted in place of this agenda.

If you are interested in speaking to the council during the call to the public, public
hearings, or other agenda items, you must fill out a speaker card (at the rear of the council
chambers) and deliver it to the clerk in advance of the agenda item you 'vvish to address,
All persons attending the council meeting, vvhether speaking to the councilor not, are
expected to observe the council rules, as 'vVell as the rules of politeness, propriety, decorum
and good conduct. Any person interfering 'v'v'ith the meeting in any way, or acting rudely or
loudly viill be removed from the meeting and will not be alla'wed to return.

A. Consent Aaenda
