HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance 80.03 Authorizing school crossingsORDINANCE NUMBER 80.03 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING SCHOOL CROSSINGS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND DECLAR- IN AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Town Council has received a formal re- quest from the Superintendent of Marana School District No. 6- 106; and WHEREAS, a hazardous situation is found to exist along McDuff Road and Grier Road adjacent to the Marana Schools; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: School crossings shall be established and marked in front of each school building and grounds in conform- ity with the provisions of Section 28-797 of the Arizona Revised Statutes. Section 2: Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a mis- demeanor, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($300.00) or by imprisonment for a period not to exceed three (3) months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day that a violation continues shall be a separate offense punishable as hereinabove described. Section 3: Whereas it is necessary for the preserva- tion of the peace, health and safety of the Tov~ of Marana, Arizona, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance shall become immediately operative and in force from and after the date of posting hereof. PASSED AND ADOPTED by.the Mayor and TowIlCouncil of the Town of Marana, Arizona, thzs /~i-_ day of ~c~-Y~_a~/ 1980.
