HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2002-101 commemorating september 11, 2001MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2002-101 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, COMMEMORATING THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE TERRORIST ATTACK ON THE UNITED STATES ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. WHEREAS, the citizens of Marana have been deeply affected and troubled by the act of terrorism that was perpetrated on our nation on September 11, 2001; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana strongly believes i n t he democratic w ay o f 1 ire t hat provides freedom from oppression; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana is dedicated to preserving and defending American ideals and philosophies regardless of political partisanship. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED bythe Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, that the flags of our nation and of our state will be flown at half mast on all Town of Marana government sites on September 11, 2002. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council do encourage all citizens and businesses within the Town of Marana to also fly their flags at half mast on September 11,2002, out of respect for the men and women who died and for those people who worked tirelessly to prove that love, dignity and respect for our country cannot be taken from us through the acts of criminals.
