A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA,
ARIZONA, TO RECOGNIZE AND SUPPORT THE MARANA ARTS COUNCIL IN THEIR
EFFORTS TO PROMOTE THE ARTS WITHIN THE TOWN OF MARANA AND THE
SURROUNDING COMMUNITY.
WHEREAS, the Marana Ar~s Council was formed in order to promote an appreciation for
the arts within the Town of Marana and the surrounding community; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Marana Arts Council is to establish, stimulate, and maintain
an awareness and appreciation of the diverse traditional and cultural arts in the Marana community
and enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Marana Arts Council is dedicated to preserving the historical, agricultural
and rural heritage of the Marana area and to developing an appreciation of the diverse cultural
traditions of the Marana community by promoting the arts through public art display, community-
based events and projects, hands-on workshops and art education programs; and
WHEREAS, the Marana Town Council recognizes the Marana Arts Council as an important
vehicle for raising the quality of life within the Town of Marana and its surrounding areas; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana,
Arizona, that recognition and suppor~ for the Marana Arts Council is as follows:
That the Marana Town Council hereby
1. Recognizes the Marana Arts Council (MAC) as a vital member of the Marana community
and supports MAC's mission.
2. That the $8,500 in the special events budget for the Colors of Marana and Music Festival be
allocated to the Marana Arts Council to organize and plan these events in 2001.
3. That the Community Programs and Events Manager act as the Town's liaison to MAC and
represent the Town of Marana on the MAC Board of Directors as an ex-officio member.
4. That staff form a committee and develop a public arts ordinance.
