A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
MARANA, ARIZONA, REGARDING THE TERRORIST ATlrACK ON THE
UNITED STATES ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Town of Marana have been deeply affected
by the horrifying events surrounding the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 in
New York City, Pennsylvania and on the Pentagon; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana strongly believes in the democratic way
of life that provides freedom from oppression; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana is dedicated to preserving and
defending American ideals and philosophies regardless of political partisanship;
and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana joins with the rest of the nation to
mourn the loss of innocent people and the major devastation to property; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana is committed to supporting the
coordinated efforts of all agencies involved in the timely identification of victims
and in the recovery efforts to provide shelter, food, blood, and other resources.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of
the Town of Marana do hereby proclaim their support for the President, his staff
and Congress in their efforts to bring to justice those responsible for the
reprehensible actions that caused death and devastation by their acts on
September 11, 2001.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council encourage all
town residents to give comfort and assistance to family, friends, and neighbors
who have lost loved ones and to volunteer their services to agencies that are
involved in the restoration process in the aftermath of this horrendous event.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Marana, Arizona, this 18th day of September, 2001.
