HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2001-136 workers' compensation for volunteers MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2001-136 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, ESTABLISHING THE MONTHLY SALARY EQUIVALENT FOR VOLUNTEER WORKERS OF THE TOWN FOR THE PURPOSES OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, wish to provide workers' compensation coverage through the Arizona Municipal Workers' Compensation Pool for those who volunteer service to the Town; and WHEREAS, Arizona's workers' compensation law, as found in Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 23, Chapter 6, requires the Town to determine by resolution the salary equivalent for specified volunteer workers, for the purposes of determining workers' compensation premiums and benefits; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that the fair monthly salary equivalent for Town volunteers is $400.00 per month; and WHEREAS, the adoption and immediate effectiveness of this resolution being necessary for the preservation of the general health, peace, safety and welfare of the residents of the Town of Marana, Arizona, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, as follows: Section 1: The following schedule of salaries is adopted in accordance with A.R.S. Section 23-901 et seq. Maximum number of members authorized: 80 Number Title Monthly Salary Equivalent 80 Citizen Volunteers $400.00 Section 2: A copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Arizona Municipal Workers' Compensation Pool. Section 3: Due to an existing emergency, the immediate effectiveness of this Resolution is necessary to preserve the peace, health, and safety of the Town of Marana, Marana Resolution No. 2001-136 Page I of 2 Arizona, and this Resolution shall therefore be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
