MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2000-49
A RESOLUTION TO THE MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA,
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN TO A NEW PUBLIC HIGHWAY CROSSING
AGREEMENT WITH UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY FOR COR TARO FARMS
ROAD.
WHEREAS, the UnionPacif!c Railroad Company is responsible for the operation and
maintenance of the Cortaro Farms Roadway at-grade railroad crossing; and
WHEREAS, the Town desires to widen and reconstruct the existing railroad crossing for
Cortaro Farms Road to improve the existing traffic congestion problems on Cortaro Farms Road and
improve safety to the public using this crossing; and
WHEREAS, the Union Pacific Railroad has reviewed the Town's roadway improvement
proposal and is prepared to authorize the construction of this project; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of the Town ofMarana to improve the
geometry of the existing Railroad crossing by acquiring additional crossing easement area to permit
the realignment and widening of Cortaro Farms Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Marana, Arizona, that the Mayor is authorized to execute a New Public Highway Crossing
Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad Company.
