Mike: I reviewed our statistics for the last several years. We had no hazardous materials reponses in 1999. As of 9/13/99 we have responded to 357 alarms so far with no hazardous materials related calls. That makes 871 emergency dispatches since Jan. 1998 that have not required hazardous materials expertise. The cost in manpower and equipment has been zero for the Corona de Tucson Fire District. We do not know where the hazardous materials response tem is going to come from, or who is going to be on ity who the lead agency is going to be, or where any of this stands. If we do need a higher level than we can provide as rwelEMS first response, we will contact MEDS, Pima (RMFD dispatch), or DPS/FCSO and advise somebody that it is over our heads.
