A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA,
AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH
THE CITY OF TUCSON, PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY,
CITY OF SOUTH TUCSON, TOWN OF ORO VALLEY, PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE,
NORTHWEST FIRE DISTRICT, AND GOLDER RANCH FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE USE
OF THE MULTI-AGENCY MUTUAL AID SYSTEM.
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana recognizes its duty to protect its citizens throu~,~h effective
police powers; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tucson (the City) has formed a Multi-Agency Mutual Aid System
which may be collectively utilized by the respective police and emergency authority powers of the
Town ofMarana, Pima County, Arizona Department of Public Safety, City of South Tucson, the
Town of Oro Valley, Pima Community College, Northwest Fire District, and Golder Ranch Fire
Department (the Agencies) for the provision of a regional radio communications system which
allows for direct communication between and amongst the City and Agencies during times of
emergencies; and
WHEREAS, the Multi-Agency Mutual Aid System is an efficient, cost effective method of
providing for the enhanced safety of Town citizens, and the Town of Sahuarita and the Tucson
Airport Authority has requested to be included as parties to the Intergovernmental Agreement, and
it has been determined that it would be in the best interests of the citizens to amend the
Intergovernmental Agreement by and between the City and the Agencies, attached hereto as Exhibit
A.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Marana, Arizona authorizing the Town to execute the Amendment No. 1 to the Intergovernmental
Agreement by and between the City and the Agencies, attached hereto as Exhibit A, to allow for the
addition of the Town of Sahuadta and the Tucson Airport Authority to the agreement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, this
