HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 99-072 IGA to amend joint housing programRESOLUTION NO. 99-72 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA~ AUTHORIZING THE TOWN TO AMEND AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY OF PIMA THAT CREATED A JOINT HOUSING PROGRAM UTILIZING FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT. WFfEREAS, the Town of Mararia and Pima County desire to engage in housing and community development activities to provide low income housing with funds fi'om the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana and Pima County are public agencies under the provisions of Sections 11-951 et seq. of the Arizona Revised Statutes, and each is authorized by law to enter into joint agreements and the Town of Marana and Pima County are individually authorized by law to engage in housing and community development agreements; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana and Pima County do hereby find and determine that it is to the best interests of the residents of the unincorporated areas of Pima County and the Town of Marana that housing and community development activities be preformedjointly; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana and Pima County desire to provide integrated construction-skills training and education for at-risk youth; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana previously authorized the formation of a HOME Investment Partnership Program in conjunction with Pima County on May 23, 1995, by Resolution No. 95-30; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana previously authorized an Intergovernmental Agreement with Pima County for the purpose of creating a joint housing program on January 5, 1999, by Resolution No. 99-01, and Resolution No. 99-72 Page 1 of 2 WltEREAS, the Town of Marana and Pima County desire to add additional funds to the Intergovernmental Agreement to build two additional houses, and NOW TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, that the Mayor is authorized to execute the Intergovernmental Agreement Amendment Number one with Pima County for the purpose of adding additional funds to the joint housing program.
