HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 98-069 regional effluent planning partnershipMARANA RESOLUTION NO. 98-69 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE REGIONAL EFFLUENT PLANNING PARTNERSHIP [REPP] AS REQUESTED BY THE TUCSON REGIONAL WATER COUNCIL [TWRC]. WHEREAS, the Regional Effluent Planning Partnership [REPP], formerly known as the Regional Effluent Planning Task Force [REPTF], is presently concentrating on the issue of effluent being discharged into the Santa Cruz River; and WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation [BOR] has agreed to contribute $250,000 toward a study of effluent utilization projects throughout the valley provided local participants agree to match the BOR figure and no jurisdiction or water company has agreed to help fund the study other than with "in-kind" services; and WHEREAS, "in-kind" funding refers to an agency or jurisdiction providing some level of staff participation in the program and the Town of Oro Valley, Arizona, the City of Tucson, Arizona and Pima County, Arizona have agreed to provide said services; and WHEREAS, in order to achieve the maximum beneficial utilization of effluent in the region, the cooperation and participation of all parties involved is necessary. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana as follows: That the Town of Marana will participate in the REPP by implementing "in-kind" services only; and That the Town Manager and Town staffare hereby instructed to take and do all acts necessary to further this Resolution, and to provide regular reports to the Mayor and Council and the people of Marana regarding the progress of the study; and That the time contributed to date by the Town Manager and Town staff, including the time of outside consultants, will qualify as "in-kind" participation.
