A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA,
EXEMPTING MOTOR VEHICLES ASSIGNED FOR USE BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
FROM TOWN MARKING REQUIREMENTS.
WHEREAS, A.R.S. § 28-1441 requires motor vehicles owned or leased by a political
subdivision of the state for a period of six (6) months or more to bear the designation of the name of
the political subdivision and the department or agency thereof in a visible manner, and A.R.S. § 28-
1 44303) authorizes certain one-year exemptions from said marking requirements to be made by the
governing body of a political subdivision for vehicles to be used for the conduct of rehabilitation or
social service programs, felony investigations, or activities of a confidential nature; and
WHEREAS, application is hereby made with respect to the motor vehicles used for said
purposes by the Mararia Police Department for exemption from the provisions of A.R.S. § 28-1441;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council find that it is in the best interests of the citizens of
Mararia to grant applications for exemption from marking requirements.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Tom of Marana,
Arizona as follows:
Pursuant to A.R.S. § 28-1443(B), applications for exemption from official identification of
motor vehicles now assigned for use by the Marana Police Department for use in the conduct
of rehabilitation or social service programs, felony investigations, or activities of a confidential
nature, hereby are approved. Since the identification of these vehicles is confidential, and
such confidentiality is necessary for the public safety, a list of the vehicles contained under this
exception are to be retained confidentially by the town clerk.
The effective date of the exemption of the aforementioned motor vehicles shall be July 1,
1997, and the period of such exemption shall expire on June 30, 1998.
The various Town officers and employees are authorized and directed to perform all acts
necessary or desirable to give effect this resolution.
