A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARAN& ARIZONA,
APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWN OF MARANA TO PARTICIPATE IN A CAP
SLOWSAND/NANOFILTRATION WATER PROJECT, SUBJECT TO THE CONDITION OF
INDEPENDENT TESTING BY A PRIVATE WATER LABORATORY.
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the Town of Marana that its citizens have access to
water which meets the standards set by the Ev. vironmental Protection Agency (EPA); and
WHEREAS, there is a need for utilizing Central Arizona Project (CAP) water in the
northwest area; and
WHEREAS, a pilot project treatment of water know as the Slowsand/Nanofiltration Pilot
Project has been demonstrated to be an economically viable method of treating CAP water to produce
an EPA approved water source to the public; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Oro Valley and Metro Water wish to share equally with the Town
of Marana the cost of implementing the Slowsand/Nanofiltration Pilot Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Marana, Arizona, approving and authorizing the Town of Marana to participate in a CAP
Slowsand/Nanofiltration Water Project, subject to the condition of independent testing by a private
water laboratory.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, this
6th day of May, 1997.
