A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA,
ARIZONA, AUTHORIZING TOWN PARTICIPATION IN REGIONAL EFFLUENT
PLANNING
WHEREAS, there are supplies of effluent, such as, but not limited to, the effluent
assigned to the Secretary of the Interior as part 'of the Southern Arizona Water Rights Settlement
Act, which could be more beneficially used in the future than is the case today; and
WHEREAS, in order to achieve the maximum beneficial utilization of effluent in the
region, the cooperation and participation of all parties involved is necessary; and
WHEREAS, development of a regional effluent utilization plan will require support and
technical assistance from interests within the Tucson Active Management Area as well as the
United States; and
WHEREAS, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has authority to conduct wastewater reuse
feasibility studies in the Tucson area;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Marana as follows:
That the Town of Marana will participate in the formation of a Regional Effluent
Utilization Task Force for the purpose of investigation, development and
implementation of a regional wastewater and effluent reuse plan.
That the Town Manager and Town staff are hereby instructed to take and do all
acts necessary to further this Resolution, and to provide regular reports to the
Mayor and Council and the people of Marana regarding the progress of the study.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona,
