RELATING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE TWO SUBGRANTEE AGREEMENTS WITH THE ARIZONA
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY FOR PURPOSES OF RECENING FUNDS
UNDER THE 2008 OPERATION STONEGARDEN GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS the Town of Marana recognizes its duty to protect its citizens concerning
matters involving Homeland and Border Security; and
WHEREAS the Marana Police Department is working with the Arizona Department of
Homeland Security, United States Border Patrol, and other community agencies as a regional
partner in the Operation Stonegarden Program; and
WHEREAS the Arizona Department of Homeland Security has awarded grant funding
for the provision of overtime pay, mileage reimbursement, and surveillance equipment for
services provided in coordination with the Operation Stonegarden Program; and
WHEREAS under the terms of the 2008 Operation Stonegarden Grant Program upon
execution of pending Subgrantee Agreements the Town of Marana is eligible to receive funds in
the amount of $138,202 from the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for overtime pay,
mileage reimbursement, and surveillance equipment.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, approving and authorizing the Mayor to execute the Arizona
Department of Homeland Security Stonegarden Subgrantee Agreements and authorizing the
Town Manager and staff to take appropriate actions to carry out the terms of the agreements.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
MARANA, ARIZONA, this 2°d day of December, 2008.
