HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2008-169 extension of terms on the personnel action review boardMARANA RESOLUTION N0.2008-169 RELATING TO PERSONNEL; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION OF THE TERMS OF THE SITTING AND ALTERNATE EMPLOYEE BOARD MEMBERS OF THE TOWN'S PERSONNEL ACTION REVIEW BOARD; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY WHEREAS Section 3-3-3 of the Marana Town Code provides that the Town Council may adopt personnel rules, regulations and policies that follow the generally accepted principles of good personnel administration; and WHEREAS the Town Council adopted Personnel Policies and Procedures via Town of Marana Ordinance 99.12 and Resolution 99-38 on May 18, 1999; and WHEREAS Section 5-6-9 of the Town's Personnel Policies and Procedures provides that the Town's Personnel Action Review Board (PARB) shall be composed of two appointed citizen members and three employee members elected by other Town employees and that alternate members of each group shall be selected; and WHEREAS the three sitting employee board members and two alternate employee board members of the PARB were elected to serve terms beginning on December 15, 2006 and ending on December 15, 2008; and WHEREAS the Council finds that the extension of the sitting and alternate employee board members' terms for an interim period is in the best interests of the Town and its employees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, as follows: Section 1. The terms of the three sitting and two alternate employee board members of the Town's Personnel Action Review Board, elected to serve terms beginning on December 15, 2006 and ending on December 15, 2008, are hereby extended until such time as any employment matters pending appeal to the board as of the date of this resolution are resolved. Section 2. The Town's manager and staff are hereby directed and authorized to undertake all other and further tasks required or beneficial to carry out the terms, obligations, and objectives of the aforementioned amendments. {00012064.DOC /} JF 12/9/08 Section 3. Since it is necessary for the preservation of the peace, health and safety of the Town of Marana that this resolution become immediately effective, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
