PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Mayor Harn INVOCATION Instead of an Invocation, Mayor Harn read an excerpt regarding Hanukkah. The motion carried 7/0. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES A motion was made by Ed Honea, seconded by Sherry Millner, to accept the Minutes of Regular Council Meeting of December 1, 1998. The motion carried 7/0. Michael Reuwsaat and Roxanne Ziegier abstained. Vii. CALL TO THE PUBLIC/ANNOUNCEMENTS Mike Reuwsaat recognized Kelly Schwab's work for the town; she was attending her last Council meeting. Herb Kal announced that there is a kettle from the Salvation Army at the Chevron in Marana. Mayor Harn introduced Ken Lawrence, the new Director of Parks and Recreation. She also recognized Wade McLean's Doctorate in Education. She proclaimed the week of December 19 as Dr. Wade McLean week. She reported that Evergreen donated trees to the Town which were distributed to Town employees; some were also taken to the Marana Health Center and Food Bank and given to families in need of a tree. VIII. STAFF R_EPORTS IX. No action taken. GENERAL ORDER OF BUSINESS_ Resolution No. 98.26 - Adoption of Development Agreement between the Town of Marana and Granite Construction Company for the development of the Tangerine Road Aggregate Plant, which is a sand and gravel extraction operation. Mike Hein congratulated Thomas Benavides and Jack Neuback, had worked on the plan for more than a year. Thomas Benavides said the agreement will last approximately 40 years. Granite Construction Company is obligated to reclaim the land after the 40-year period. A motion was made by Herb Kal, seconded by Mike Reuwsaat, to adopt Ordinance No. 98.26 approving the Development Agreement between the Town of Marana and Granite Construction Company for the Tangerine Road Aggregate Plant. The motion carried 7/0. B. Pima Association of Governments Regional Council Meeting - Review for Discussion and Direction. Mayor Harn reported that members of the PAG Regional Council 2 will be going to Phoenix and will meet with the MAG Regional Council. They will discuss with Arizona State Department of Transportation the monies passed down to the States from federal transportation funding that Arizona pays to the government. 81,5% will come back to the State (which is 6.5% more than in the past). C. Mayor and Council's Report Councilwoman Sherry Millner - Attended the National Congress of Cities and Towns in Kansas City and Northwest Fire's annual awards dinner. Councilwoman Roxanne Ziegler - None · Councilman Herb Kal- None Councilman Ed Honea - Reminded everyone that the following Tuesday at 8:15 a.m., they would be breaking ground for the new Senior Center. Vice Mayor Bobby Sutton - Marana Appreciation Day was held at the Gallery Golf Course which is now open to the public. Councilman Mike Reuwsaat- None XI. · Mayor Ora Ham - Agreed with Vice Mayor Sutton that the Gallery Golf Course is excellent. D. Manager's Report_ Mike Hein congratulated Jerry Flannery on the work he has been doing in his new position. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS None ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Mike Reuwsaat, and seconded by Vice Mayor Sutton, to adjourn. The motion passed 7/0.
