[)avid Morales asked that a plaque for Don Frew be hung in the Town Hall. Mr. Morales also asked that the Council consider naming the Marana lown Hall after Pat Garrett. Mr. Morales feels Mr. Garrett is the Founding Father o{ Marana. Mr. Morales also added that there is still time to save the Marana Volunteer Fire Department. VIII. ANNOUNCEMENTS C:huc:k Dinauer, Marana Planning and Zoning Administrator. Chuck Oinauer reminded the Council and informed the public about the Introduction to Economic Development Program jointly spon- sored by the Town of Marana and the Chamber. The meetings will be on Mondays August 17~ 24~ and 31 and September 14th at 7:00 P.M. The presenters are members of the Arizona Association for Industrial Development. The objective is to help Marana organ- ize and plan for economic development. Please let Sandy Grose- close if you plan to attend. Leilani Schisler, 12561N. White Ave. Marana Leilani Schisler announced that the DARE program would be having an auction August 29th if enough items were donated and that anyone wanting to donate should contact the Marana Police Youth Center er getty Nerrigan at the Marana Grocery store. Break Time 8:00 Back in Session ~me 8:08 P.M. all Council Members have retuYned to the dais. X. ORDER OF BUSINESS A~ Video Tape of Streets and Roads Striper Presented ~y_ ~o_b_ Kern. Mayor Ora Ham introduced Bob Kern and commended him for his ingenuity and the cost savings to the Town. Mayor Ham also mentioned that Bob Kern was recognized for his creativity in two publications; Report to the Congress of the United States and Surplus Shopper. Sob Kern narrated an eight minute video he took of the Striper in action. Bob stated he came up with the ideas and Harvey Henson did the fabricating. B. Blank Annexation Petition of Ina Road Area Chuck Dinauer introduced Don Chatfield of The Planning Center who answered questions from the Council. Bill 8chisler noted an error on page 8 of the Preliminary Fiscal Impact Analysis of The Proposed Ina Road/Thornydale Road Annexa- Lion. Don Chatfield stated the correct figure is $120,000 per year to the Town of Marana not $1,200. Eddie Honea stated he thought sorne expenditures may be low and asked that each Department Head have input on these estimated expenditures. Eddie Honea also asked that we look for larger 'Facilities for the Public Hearing. Sill Schisler asked that the Town Council be informed of the cash flow timing. A motion was made by Sill Schisler, seconded by Eddie Honea and carried unanimously to authorize the Interim Town Manager to file tile blank petition and schedule the public Hearing as required by A.R.S. for the South End annexation. Sciences International for Hazardous Waste violations Belen Key stated we need to educate the media of our Town bound- aries and that R.S.I. is in Pima County. D__=. Citizens Budget Committee FY 1992-93 A motion was made by Eddie Honea, seconded by Bill Schisler and carried unanimously to accept the resignation of Hilliam Golden from the Budget Committee. N. Town Council Oiscussiol an~ A~ointment/s to the Town Of Maran_!a ~ and Zoning Commission a motion was made by Bill Schisler, seconded by Eddie Honea to accept the Mayor's appointments as follows: Edwin Nelson to replace Sharon Price with the term ending $eDtember 24. 1997, Katy Berry to replace Terry BONn Kith the term ending September 80~ 1994 and Viola Golden to replace Russell Dove Jr. with the term ending April 9~ 1997. The motion carried unanimously. I~. K_~. Ma_e~or's R~_~p~ crt Mayor Ora Ham stated that she and Chuck Dinauer and Bob Kern met with representatives of RTC concerning the roads in the Continen-- tal Ranch area. Mayor Ora Harn commended David Smith on the in-house training with Town staff on personnel issues. Bob Kern and Sandy Groseclose have beer, Norking together with the new Site Manager to get it running more smoothly. We will not be running the after school program at the recreatiol~ center until funds are available and hopefully if we are DE.S approved we may be able to put on a good program.
