HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2006-028 amending personnel policies 4-11 MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2006-28 RELATING TO PERSONNEL; APPROVING AND ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO THE TOWN'S PERSONNEL POLICIES MANUAL, REVISING POLICY SECTION 4-11 "PERSONAL LEAVE." WHEREAS, town staff has presented proposed amendments to the town's Personnel Policies Manual; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendments were presented to the Town Council at its January 17, 2006 meeting; and WHEREAS, the Council finds that adoption of the amendments to the town's Personnel Policies Manual is in the best interests of the town and its employees. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that Policy 4-11 of the Personnel Policies is revised as follows (deletions shown with striketlKough and additions shown with double underlinim!): Policy 4-11 PERSONAL LEAVE Section 4-11-1 General Each calendar year, oersonalleave is available to use for emolovee oersonal needs. up to 16 hours of Personal Leove is ovailable to use for employee personal needs. An employee moy go directly to the Town Manager to request personal time off should he/she feel that the sensitivity or confidentiality of the subject requires the Town M::mager's approval. Section 4-11-~t Eligibility A. Employees in the following classifications are eligible for 16 hours of oersonalleave personol time off as described in this policy: 1. Regular full-time classified and unclassified employees. 2. Regular part-time employees. 3. Employees who are in an initial evaluation period. B. As an additional incentive to recruit and retain key emolovees. the Town Manaaer may uoon hirina or in connection with an annual oerformance {FC0027.DOC f} evaluation arant to an Emolovee in the followina cateaories uo to an additional 40 hours of oersonalleave annuallv. 1. Assistant Town Manaaers. 2. Deoartment Heads. .c.. Personal time off is available after one month of employment and shall be deducted on a one hour basis. Section 4 11 2 Lea'le Use 1\. Personal leave is normally granted for reasons that are not othel1Nise covered by other personnel policies. Reasons to use personal time off may include but are not limited to routine 'Nell child medical appointments, legal consultations, a birthday or a holiday not officially designated by Council. B. Personal time off may not be used for sick leave or to extend vacation leave-: Section 4-11-3 No Accumulation Personal Leave does not accumulate. Section 4-11-4 Termination of Employment Personal leave is neither an accumulated benefit nor payable upon termination. IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the town's manager and staff are hereby directed and authorized to undertake all other and further tasks required or beneficial to carry out the terms, obligations, and objectives ofthe aforementioned amendments.
