HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2009-085 adopting the results of the General Election held on May 19, 2009MARANA RESOLUTION N0.2009-85 RELATING TO ELECTIONS; DECLARING AND ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 19, 2009 WHEREAS, the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, did hold a general election on the 19th day of May, 2009, for the election of two Council Members and a ballot question regarding the Alternative Expenditure Limitation (Home Rule Option); and WHEREAS, the election returns have been presented to and have been canvassed by the Town Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona, as follows: SECTION 1: That the total number of ballots cast at said general election, as confirmed by Pima County, was 3,023. SECTION 2: That 2,478 early ballots were processed and counted; 0 ballots rejected. SECTION 3: That 24 provisional ballots were received; 22 ballots verified and counted; 2 ballots unverified and uncounted. SECTION 4: That the votes cast for the candidates for Council Member were as follows: Name Vote Total Kelle Maslyn 1,278 Carol McGorray 1,444 Jon Post 1,736 Larry Steckler 926 SECTION 5: That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record, that the following candidates did receive more than one-half of the total number of valid votes cast and will be issued a certificate of election: Jon Post Carol McGorray Resolution 2009-85 SECTION 6: That the votes case for the Alternative Expenditure Limitation (Home Rule Option) were as follows: Yes No 1,616 946 That it is hereby found, determined and declared of record, that the total number of valid votes cast caused the Alternative Expenditure Limitation (Home Rule Option) to be passed. SECTION 7: This resolution shall be in full force and effective immediately upon its adoption.
