RELATING TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING FULL
PARTICIPATION ON THE PIMA COUNTY/TUCSON METROPOLITAN COUNTER
NARCOTICS ALLIANCE, A LAW ENFORCEMENT TASK FORCE
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana recognizes its duty to protect its citizens by working to
reduce crime associated with drug trafficking and drug use; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana is empowered by A.R.S.§ 9-240(b)(12) to maintain a
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the Marana Police Department is working with Pima County, the Cities of
Tucson and South Tucson, the Towns of Oro Valley, Sahuarita and Oro Valley, the United States
Government, and other community agencies as a regional partner in the Pima County/Tucson
Metropolitan Counter Narcotics Alliance (CNA); and
WHEREAS, the funding for the provision of salaries, overtime pay, mileage
reimbursement, surveillance equipment, and other costs related to services provided in
coordination with the CNA task force maybe available through grant and special revenue funds;
and
WHEREAS, the Marana Police Department wishes to assign officers with the other
community agencies as a regional partner in CNA taskforce activities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that the Council authorizes the Town Manager and staff to
take appropriate actions necessary to continue participation as a member of the Pima
County/Tucson Metropolitan Counter Narcotics Alliance including all intergovernmental and
operational agreements.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
MARANA, ARIZONA, this 18th day of August, 2009.
