'< ,, .loo fi' Background • 2006-Marana Regional Airport Master Plan Update was approved by Mayor & Council. • 2007-Master Plan Update was completed. • 2008-Economic Downturn takes toll on aviation industry. • 2009-Short Term Bridge Plan reviewed by management & brought to Mayor & Council for presentation. Key Issues • Establish the Airport Enterprise Fund. • Develop a consensus mission and vision for the airport. • Determine objective measures of Marana Regional Airport's function and growth. • Design in accountability for airport growth. • Examine & mitigate current institutional barriers to desirable growth. • Evaluate appropriate contract term length. The Approach • FBO - Review the FBO Contract scope of services and cost. • A fixed base operator (also known as fixed base of operation), or FBO, is a service center at an airport that is a private enterprise. The Marana FBO is Pima Aviation. - Review and complete the amendment for the master lease agreement. • Consolidate the numerous small leases and improve consistency among similar size and service airports. • Trade leased areas to provide for the future tower, fire and police facilities. The Approach 4. ;,., • Hire an airport manager with practical operational experience and a good track record. - Grow the airport at a rate of about - 5% per year & implement the Strategic Plan airport focus areas such as completing the Tower. - Build. a performance team using existing Town resources. The Approach • Create Capacity at the right time - Identify & develop an attractive retail program to optimize non-aviation income. - Enhance customer service & satisfaction. - Develop a `portfolio' concept for airport retail & terminal concessions. - Review/revise leasing/building incentives. The Approach • Develop the Corporate Jet Center. - Continue the terminal design. - Reduce the building size to 10,000 S.F. from the current 16,000 S.F. will lower the design cost. ~. .~.~ ,~. Summary • Marana Regional Airport is an important part of the Strategic Plan. Making the airport business model function is critical. •A successful Marana Regional Airport is one of the many attributes that make the Marana brand unique.
