PItOCLAMA TION
Remembering George A. Brinsko
WHEREAS, George A. Brinsko was one of three children born in Duquesne,
Pennsylvania, to Czechoslovakian immigrants; and
WHEREAS, George worked in the steel mill outside Pittsburgh and in the local
amusement park to earn tuition for college; and
WHEREAS, during the course of his employment at the local amusement park,
he met his wife Gloria, and together they raised five children during their 55 years of
marriage; and
WHEREAS, George earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of
Pittsburgh and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, earning
the rank of Captain; and
WHEREAS, at the conclusion of his tour of duty, George returned to Pittsburgh,
working as an engineer on some of Pittsburgh's largest construction projects, later
becoming the Chief Engineer of the Allegheny County Sanitary Authority for 20 years;
and
WHEREAS, in 1979, George and Gloria moved to Tucson where George was
hired as the Director of Pima County's Wastewater Management department; and
WHEREAS, during the course of his tenure with Pima County, George worked
diligently to assist Marana in putting appropriate controls in place for wastewater
management to accommodate the rapid expansion of the town; and
WHEREAS, George Brinsko served on the Marana Water Utility Board until the
time of his passing.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana do proclaim
that
GEORGE A. BRINSKO
Will long be remembered as a friend of Marana, a man of principle and integrity, and a
respected leader. He gave back to his adopted community untold volunteer hours
working with charitable organizations. And most importantly, George was a devoted
family man who put family, church, and friends first in all he did.
