DISCUSSION This proposed ordinance would eliminate the Town's half-cent sales tax for regional roadway improvements, as established by Marana Ordinance No. 2004.16. When this half-cent sales tax was adopted by the Town Council, it was intended to be repealed when the Regional Transporta- tion Authority half-cent sales tax went into effect. Now that the voters have approved the re- gional transportation authority half-cent sales tax, this ordinance is being brought forward to Council so that the Town's separate half-cent regional transportation sales tax may now be re- pealed. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends adoption of Ordinance No. 2006.13, repealing the Town of Marana half-cent sales tax for regional transportation improvements. SUGGESTED MOTION I move to adopt Ordinance No. 2006.13. {00002182.DOC /} FJC/cds 5/30/06 MARANA ORDINANCE NO. 2006.13 RELATING TO THE PRIVILEGE LICENSE TAX; AMENDING THE TOWN TAX CODE BY REPEALING MARANA ORDINANCE NO. 2004.16 AND THEREBY DECREASING THE TAX RATE ON CERTAIN ACTIVITIES BY ONE-HALF CENT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
