Proclamation
JOHN SR. AND MAMIE KAI
WHEREAS, the legacy of John Sr. and Mamie Kai continues to touch the
lives of southern Arizonans through philanthropic, artistic and cultural
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, the Kai legacy exists in the hearts of Marana residents through
the efforts of their sons, Herbert and John Jr.; and
WHEREAS, the senior Kai's commitment to establishing quality of life
through innovative and sensitive planning throughout Marana is
continually reinforced through the efforts of Herbert and John, Jr. and
their respective families; and
WHEREAS, the senior Kai's were recently recognized by the Chinese
community in the Tucson region by the dedication of the newly
constructed Chinese Cultural Center in their honor; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana desires to add to the congratulations by
dedicating the Council Meeting of November 15, 2005 to John Sr. and
Mamie Kai and also wishes to make a donation to the Chinese Cultural
Center for the continued preservation of Chinese heritage and to instill
awareness and understanding to all citizens of the value of diverse
cultures to this region.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana join the
citizens of Marana in proclaiming and celebrating
John Sr. and Mamie Kai
in their extraordinary journey to southern Arizona and the legacy that
their family continues to impart in Marana.
