SUBJECT Direction regarding the Marana Heritage Park
DISCUSSION
At the study Session held November 8, 2005, the updated concept plan for the Marana Heritage
Park was presented, together with the Architect's report and recommendations for the Producers
Cotton Oil office building. Staff now asks for Council direction to move forward with the
following first phase of work:
1. The architectural reconstruction design of the Producers Cotton Oil office building
using cement stabilized adobe units and in a layout conforming to the original building
design, prior to later modifications, as per the recommendations of the project architect.
2. The salvage of the existing Producers Cotton Oil office building for structural elements,
millwork, doors and windows with the assistance of salvage professionals with
experience in removing architectural millwork.
3. The salvage of the existing Producers Cotton Oil warehouse building for structural
elements and exterior doors.
4. Continuation of construction on the caretaker apartment and equestrian facility in the
existing barn.
5. Construction of site improvements including interim and future parking areas.
6. Reconstruction of the Producers Cotton Oil office building and warehouse where
depicted on the updated Heritage Park Concept Plan presented at the November 8th
Study Session and attached herewith.
7. Construction of entry monumentation and landscaping at the entrance to the Park.
8. Official name designation ofthis area as the Marana Heritage Park.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Mayor and Council accept the revised Heritage Park concept plan,
officially name this site as the Marana Heritage Park and direct staff the begin implementation of
the first phase of improvements.

I move to accept the revised Heritage Park concept plan, officially name this site as the Marana
Heritage Park, and direct staff to begin implementation of the first phase of improvements.
