SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2005-133: Relating to Real Estate; approving and
authorizing the designation of a 30-foot strip of the Marana Santa
Cruz River Linear Park property, Tax Parcels 217-50-0420 and
217-50-040D, as Sandy Street public right-of-way.
DISCUSSION
The existing road alignment for Sandy Street is approximately 60 feet in width, with only the
northerly 30-foot half being dedicated for public road purposes. The southerly 30 feet is
currently encroaching upon the Town of Marana's Santa Cruz River Linear Park property, Tax
Parcels 217-50-0420 and 2l7-50-040D. The proposed designation will establish the existing 30-
foot half road right-of-way for the south half of Sandy Street from just east of Honea Drive to
Steel Drive and remove this strip from the Linear Park property.
The Town requires this 60-foot road right-of-way to enable construction of the proposed Honea
Heights Pavement Rehabilitation Improvements, Project No. 2003-14.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the designation of a 30-foot strip of Marana property as public road right of
way for the southerly 30 feet of Sandy Street, more particularly described and identified in
exhibits A, A-I, B and B-1.

RELATING TO REAL EST ATE; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE DESIGNATION
OF A 30-FOOT STRIP OF THE MARANA SANTA CRUZ RIVER LINEAR PARK
PROPERTY, TAX PARCELS 217-50-0420 AND 217-50-040D, AS SANDY STREET PUBLIC
RIGHT-OF-WAY.
WHEREAS, the Town of Marana desires to proceed with the proposed Honea Heights
Pavement Rehabilitation Improvements, Project No. 2003-14; and
WHEREAS, the improvements will require designating a 30-foot portion of the Marana
Santa Cruz Linear Park property to provide right-of-way for this project; and
WHEREAS, the Town can acquire this right-of-way by designating a strip of Marana
Santa Cruz River Linear Park property for the southerly 30 feet of Sandy Street from just east of
Honea Drive to Steel Drive, more particularly described and identified on the attached legal
descriptions and location maps Exhibits A, A-I, B and B-1.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council ofthe Town of
Marana, Arizona, that a 30-foot strip of Marana Santa Cruz River Linear Park property shall be
designated as a public road right-of-way for the south half of Sandy Street pavement
rehabilitation improvements as described in Exhibits A, A-I, B and B-1.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona,
this 18th day of October, 2005.
