DISCUSSION The Town of Marana is beginning the process to update the Marana Regional Airport Master Plan and conduct an Airport Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study. The Town has hired Coffinan Associates to complete these airport studies. An airport master plan is a community's concept of the long-term development (20 years) of its airport. It graphically displays the concept and reports the data and logic upon which the plan is based. The airport master plan is a living document that requires periodic review to factor in actual conditions and trcnds. The existing airport master plan was completed in 1999 by Pima County. With the growth of the community and the airport we are currently exceeding some of the 2020 forecast in the existing master plan. For example, in 1999 it was forecasted that the airport would have 261 based aircraft in 2020. The airport currently has more than 300 based aircraft at the airport with the opening of the new T-Hangars. A Part 150 Noise and Land Use Compatibility Study has never been completed for the Marana Rcgional Airport. This study will produce Airport Noise Exposure Maps and a Noise Compatihility Plan to ensure proper zoning and land use planning around thc airport. This study will also develop intergovernmental coordination for land use policy with Pima County around the Marana Airport. The Town is being very proactive and has been commended by the Federal Aviation Administration for completing this study before there are any incompatible land uses aronnd the airport. The pnrposc of this prcscntation is to give a brief overview of these plarming studies. RECOMMENDATION None reqnired. SUGGESTED MOTION None required.
