HomeMy WebLinkAboutDisaster Proclamation 7-31-06 PROCLAMATION OF THE MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF MARANA DECLARING THE EXISTENCE OF A FLOODING EMERGENCY WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS OF MARANA, PIMA COUNTY WHEREAS, due to the heavy rains across Southern Arizona, which included the Town of Marana, Pima County, beginning July 27, 2006 and continuing through July 31, 2006; and WHEREAS, predictions of continued rain are being made by the National Weather Service; and WHEREAS, the Town of Marana has experienced severe flooding, loss of property and damage to infrastructure as has been experienced in all parts of the County; and WHEREAS, these conditions have created a situation of extreme peril to the health and safety of the citizens of the Town of Marana, Pima County; and WHEREAS, the declaration of a local emergency will enable Pima County to provide, request and receive aid for any effected area from within Pima County, Arizona; and WHEREAS, A.R.S. ~26-311 and Town Code section 2-3-4 (E) authorizes the Mayor of the Town of Marana, when an emergency is deemed to exist, to declare a local emergency. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that a flooding emergency is hereby proclaimed and now exists in the Town of Marana, Pima County, Arizona; and IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Town of Marana Emergency Operations Plan is hereby activated and in effect until further notice; and that the areas contained within the boundaries of Pima County are hereby included in this declaration.
