Deaartment Highlights:
Division: Affordable Housina Proaram
• Sale of the Town of Marana home on Price Lane has closed. The new tenants have
started to move in.
• The building continues at the Habitat home. A "town" build day has been
scheduled Saturday, June 5'h. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact
Monica at ext. 1926.
• Funding for the third Marana Builds Habitat is underway. Three additional lots
will be provided to Habitat for Humanity-Tucson.
• The signed mylars for Sydney Place have been received.
Proiect: Neighborhood Services
• A meeting with the Honea Heights neighbors took place on April 28'h at St.
Christopher's Parish Hatl. Only 8 residents attended. Anna Marie from Old
Pueblo Community attended the meeting and handed out applications for those
interested in applying for major home rehab with funding that they have received
from the Arizona Department of Housing. Kurt Schmidt also attended and gave
the residents an update on the sewer project. Neighbors will meet again soon to
discuss creating a Neighborhood Plan.
• A neighborhood gathering was held on May 5'h with the Marana Estates residents.
A potluck was coordinated and approximately 20 were in attendance. Future
meetings will be scheduled to begin creating a Neighborhood Plan.
Project: Transit Services
• Sun Shuttle circulator provided service for 3,329 individual trips for the Marana
routes 410, 41 1, 412, and 41 3. Ridership has remained stable with the previous
month showing only a slight decrease of 26 riders.

Proiect: Community Events
• Family Night Under the Stars - 65 families camped out in Ora Mae Harn Park
and enjoyed music, dancing, family games, star-gazing, a campfire and movie.
• Tortolita Moun#ain Guided Hike - 5 hikers came along on a 1 1 mile guided hike
on the Wild Mustang -Alamo Springs Trail in the Tortolita Mountains, Saturday
April 1 Th.
• .Movie in the Park -Bad News Bears was the feature at Continental Reserve Park
April 17'h. Approximately 55 people came out to enjoy the movie.
• Music in the Park -Our "Concert in your Backyard" series kicked off with the
Desert Bluegrass Association entertaining the crowd at Crossroads at Silverbell
Park April 10'h.
Proiect: Park Construction
• Crossroads at Silverbell Park -Contractor and C.I.P. personnel continue working
on punch-list items. Maintenance is now the Park Maintenance Division's
responsibility.
• Tortolita Mountain Trailhead -Project and construction planning complete. Trico
is extending service to the property. Public art design is in conceptual phase.
Construction to advertise end of May. Trail layout and environmental surveys are
in process for future trail extensions.
• Marana Heritage River Park -Public art design is in conceptual phase. ALTA
survey is underway as per State Land Purchase Application.
Project: Planning
• Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Master Plan -Staff is reviewing the final
plan draft. Presentation to Parks and Recreation Citizen Advisory Commission
moved to May 20'h. Council update planned for late May or June (to be
determined).
Proiect: Park Volunteers
• Jonathan Susa, Eagle Scout Project/Arbor Day - Mr. Susa and volunteers from
Scout Troop 223 installed over 30 large trees throughout Ora Mae Harn Park as
part of the Town of Marana's 2010 Arbor Day Celebration.

Department Hiahlights:
Twin Peaks TrafFic Interchange, Project No. 2001-044:
• Project is 58% complete; Traffic Interchange estimated to open in October 2010.
Camino de Mariana, Project No. 2001-052:
• Project is 48% complete; Borderland is on schedule and should be complete by
October 2010.
• Waterline work is 44% complete
Honea Heights Subdivision connection from Septic to Public Sewer, Phase 1 Project no.
2002-02: (Honea Heights Septic Abandonments)
• Honea Heights neighborhood meeting was conducted on April 28'h advising
residents of Phase 1 sewer hook ups to begin. Attendees were also advised that
continuation of the project beyond Phase 1 is hampered by Pima County's decision
to not renew the IGA with the town for the neighborhood sanitary sewer
improvements as well as by current fiscal constraints.
• Maverick Underground received Notice to Proceed on May 4, 2010 and project is
estimated to be completed by the beginning of July, 2010.
Tangerine Road Corridor Design Concept Report, Project No. 2005-061
• Town of Marano is awaiting final approval from RTA for increase of funds needed
for project.
Tangerine Traffic Interchange, Project no. 2006-007:
• 100% plans still under review and staff is incorporating comments from outside
agencies
Silverbell and Cortaro Intersection Improvements Project No. 2010-153-025
• Project still in design and is set to go out for bids in June~July 2010.
Marano Regional Airport Septic Project No. 2010-153-027:

• Pre-construction meeting was held on April 15, 2010 with GN Construction. Project
should be complete by the end of August 2010.
American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Stimulus Project-Re-paving and overlay
project, Sandario Road, Twin Peaks Road and Tangerine Road:
• Construction is planned to begin May 10 with the start of temporary utility adjustments
to enable paving operations.
• Scope of work for Sandario Rd. (Moore Rd. to Marana Rd.) is the milling of the
existing roadway surface to a depth of 1 "and replacement with a 2" overlay of
asphalt.
• Scope of work for Twin Peaks Rd. (Rattlesnake Pass to Conveyor Beltway Rd.) is the
scrub seal of the existing roadway surface and an overlay with 2" of asphalt.
• Scope of work for Tangerine Rd. (I-10 to Thornydale Rd.) is the overlay of the existing
roadway with a rubberized chipseal surface course or 2" of asphalt, depending upon
location.
• Work on these projects has already begun and will continue until August 1, 2010

Police Department
Department Highlights:
• On April 22, 2010, Detective Kesterson and Motor Officer Pridgett were honored
by the Optimist Club as our First Responders of the Year.
• The Motorcycle Unit participated in a competition with other law enforcement
agencies from throughout the state, as well as, Nevada, California, and New
Mexico. Officer Pridgett finished 7 out of 50 competitors in the individual
category, and the Marana Motor Unit finished 3rd in the team competition.
• The move to the refurbished modular substation located at the MOC was
completed on April b, 2010 with little disruption to the day-to-day operations.
• During the past month, the Communications Center Manager Sheila Blevins has
adjusted staff work hours on sixteen different dates covering what would have
resulted in ninety hours of overtime.
• The Department of Public Safety Access Integrity Unit conducted an audit of the
MPD Records Unit and the Communications Center this reporting period. Both
departments passed with an A+ rating.

Department Highlights:
• Town Clerk's Office will now be responsible for gathering all E-mail public records
requests from the ArcMail Defender system. The goal is to provide better
customer service to our requestors and to make workflows smoother for all
departments involved.

Department Hiahliahts:
• On April 26, closing arguments were held in the wastewater litigation concerning
ownership of the Marana Wastewater Treatment Facility. On May 5, the Town
delivered an offer of settlement to Pima County. A decision in the final phase of
the case is anticipated no later than June 25, leaving only the form of the final
judgment and attorneys' fees to be decided.
• The Legal Department assisted the Manager's office in the creation of the Marana
Job Creation Incentive Program, adopted by Council on May 4.
• The Legal Department finalized and obtained May 4 Council approval of an IGA
with the City of Tucson addressing water service issues in town limits and
establishing a 30-month window for bringing forward additional IGAs to settle
unresolved Tucson Water issues.
• The Legal Department re-initiated weekly meetings with the Planning Department
to begin bringing forward Land Development Code revisions, beginning with
revisions to the Significant Land Use Change (SLUG) and Kiosk provisions.
• There have been three final orders of condemnation entered for the Twin Peaks TI
project. There are two remaining condemnation cases.
• The Legal Department is providing legal support to the Human Resources
Department and the Manager's Office regarding the ongoing meet and confer
process with the MPOA.
• The Legal Department drafted severance agreements for those employees subject
to layoff in order to implement the Separation Transition Package (STP) approved
by Council
• Laine Sklar and Jane Fairall presented a lecture regarding drugs, alcohol and
prosecution to a public health class, Drugs and Society, at the University of Arizona
College of Public Health.

Deaartment Hiahlights:
• Awarded the Wireless Wide Area Network services contract to Trans World
Networks. Completion of switch to new vendor is scheduled for July 1.
• General Plan 2010 Support -develop maps, Sharepoint collaboration website
and training for General Plan 2010.
• Implemented a time saving custom redaction program to help Town staff process
Public records requests.
• Comcast installed a total of 12 cable boxes at select locations within the MMC and
1 at the P&R Bldg

Human Resources
Department Highlights:
• The HR Department in coordination with the Wellness Committee, presented a
Health/Wellness Fair, titled "Finding a Healthy Balance" on April 29'h at the MMC.
With our benefit vendors and Marana health-related businesses in attendance,
over 180 employees attended. The event ended with a raffle of many great
donated prizes.
• Implemented the FY 201 1 Employee Benefits Open Enrollment period which began
May 3rd and will end June 3rd. All benefit eligible employees received a benefits
guide booklet containing a benefit enrollment form.
• Implemented plans to incorporate the new benefit vendors (CIGNA, Delta Dental
and Discovery Benefits) into the Town's administrative processes and systems.
• MPOA discussions are on-going per the meet and confer process and are
expected to conclude by the end of the month.
