RELATING TO UTILITIES; AUTHORIZING THE UTILITIES DIRECTOR TO TAKE ALL
NECESSARY ACTIONS TO CAUSE THE TOWN OF MARANA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
INCORPORATION OF AND TO JOIN THE WATER CONSERVATION OF SOUTHERN
ARIZONA (WATER CASA)
WHEREAS the Town of Marana has been a member of the Water Conservation of
Southern Arizona (Water CASA) since it was formed in 1998 under the auspices of the
University of Arizona; and
WHEREAS the primary purpose of the Water CASA is to provide water conservation and
planning services to participating water providers and other parties of interest in southern
Arizona; and
WHEREAS the Town of Marana has, until now, been a member of Water CASA
pursuant to various intergovernmental agreements with the University of Arizona; and
WHEREAS Water CASA is now being incorporated as an independent nonprofit
corporation with equal representation from each member; and
WHEREAS the Town's continued membership in Water CASA helps the Town meet
State of Arizona water conservation requirements; and
WHEREAS the Town Council finds that the Town's participation in Water CASA is in
the best interests of the Town and its residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that the Town's Utilities Director is hereby authorized to
take all necessary actions to cause the Town of Marana to participate in the incorporation of and
to join the Water Conservation of Southern Arizona (Water CASA).
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
MARANA, ARIZONA, this 7`h day of September, 2010.
