MARANA RESOLUTION NO. 2011-29
RELATING TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT; AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 98 -21
TO DESIGNATE PRICE LANE, A NEIGHBORHOOD WITHIN THE TOWN OF MARANA,
AS A COLONIA
WHEREAS United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
defines communities located within 150 miles of the U.S.- Mexico border which lack potable
water supplies, adequate sanitary sewer systems, paved roads, drainage systems, and/or decent,
safe, and sanitary housing as eligible for designation as a Colonia; and
WHEREAS HUD has designated that the Town of Marana or a portion thereof as defined
by the Mayor and Council is a Colonia; and
WHEREAS designation as a Colonia is necessary to obtain certain state and federal
funding made available to improve infrastructure systems, housing, and economic stability; and
WHEREAS the Town of Marana recognizes that the Price Lane, as defined in Exhibit A,
meets the criteria set forth by HUD; and
WHEREAS the Town of Marana designates Colonias within the Town as redevelopment
areas for the purpose of stimulating the development of basic infrastructure, affordable housing,
and economic opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, that the Price Lane Neighborhood as defined in Exhibit A
attached to and incorporated by this reference in this resolution, be designated as a Colonia.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF
MARANA, ARIZONA, this 15 day of fpbru 2011.
