AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING AND INCREASING TI-I~ CORPORATE LIMITS OF TI-I~
TOWN OF MARANA, ARIZONA, PURSUANT TO ~ PROVISIONS OF TITLE 9, CHAPTER
4, ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES, AND AMENDMENTS THEI~TO, BY ANNEXING
THERETO THAT TERRITORY KNOWN AS THE SANTA CRUZ/AVRA VALLEY ROAD
ANNEXATION, ENCOIVI~ASSING A PORTION OF SECTIONS 8 & 17, IN TOWNSHIP 12
SOUTH, RANGE 12 EAST, GILA AND SALT RIVER MERIDIAN, PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA,
AND CONTIGUOUS TO ~ TOWN'S BOUNDARIES_
WI-IEREAS, the last assessment of said property indicates that the Town of Marana is the
sole property owner, and that this property is not now embraced within its limits, asking that the
property more particularly hereinafter described to be annexed to the Town of Marana, and to extend
and increase the corporate limits of the Town of Marana so as to embrace same; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, are desirous of
extending and increasing the corporate limits of the Town of Marana to include said territory, which
is approximately 105 acres; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Craz/Avra Valley Road Annexation is an area within the southeast
quarter o f Section 8, Township l 2 South, Range l 2 East, and in the northeast quarter of Section 17,
Township 12 South, Range 12 East, Gila and Salt River Meridian, Pima County, Arizona; and
WHEREAS, the legal description and annexation map of the tcrdtory attached to and
incorporated in this Ordinance as Exhibits A and B are a correct description and map of the exterior
boundaries of the entire area proposed to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, no alterations increasing or reducing the territory sought to be annexed have
been made in such territory; and
WHEREAS, the zoning classification of the propertyprior to annexation was "Pkna County
Rural Homestead (RH)". In order to establish original Town ofMarana zoinng without permitting
densities or uses that are greater than those permitted in Pima County the properties will translate to
the Town of Marana Zone RD-180 (Residential) in the Town of Marana's land use and development
code, and
WHEREAS, the provisions of A.R.S. § 9-471, and all amendments thereto, have been fully
observed; and
The ordinance number 2003.23 was previously assigt~ed so this ordinance has beet~ re-numbered 2003.24

WHEREAS, proper and sufficient certification and proof of the foregoing facts are now on
file in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Marana, together with a true and correct copy of
the original petition referred to herein, winch is on file in the office of the County Recorder.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED bythe Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana,
Arizona, that:
The ten/toW known as the Santa Cmz/Awa Valley Road Annexation is annexed into
the Town of Marana and that the present corporate limits are extended and increased
to include the described area.
A copy of this Ordinance, together with an accurate map of the territory hereby
annexed to the T own o f M arana, certified b y t he Mayor o f t he T own, s ball b e
forthwith filed and recorded in the office of the County Recorder of Pima County,
Axizona.
The zoning classification of "Pima County Rural Homestead (RI4)" within the
annexed area is hereby changed to "Town of Marana Zone RD-180" (Residential).
On file in the office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Marana. Arizona, are those
certain documents, known as Exhibits A and B, which are recorded and hereby
referred to, adopted, and made apart ofthls Ordinance, describing and illustrating the
Santa Cmz/Avra Valley Road Annexation area.
PAS SED AND ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana, Arizona, this
