Project Name Santa Cruz Shared Use Path Phase II
Project Status /Details:
• Request for Proposal (RFP) documents are currently being prepared by the structural
engineer and are scheduled to be submitted by the end of August.
• The Town will be directly procuring the two (2) pedestrian bridges
• Due to the expiration of the 404 permit, the bridge work must be completed no later
than March 12, 2012..
Project Name Tiffany Loop Drainage
Project Status /Details:
• Contract awarded to SunWestern Contractors, Inc. on August 9, 2011 in the amount of
$494,908.73; anticipate Pre - Construction meeting at the end of August with a construc-
tion start date the week of September 12 and a contract time of Ninety (90) days to
complete.
Project Name: Tangerine Road Design Concept Report
Project Status/Details:
• The project study is about 50% complete. The draft Design Concept Report (DCR) is
scheduled to be submitted in November or December 201 1. Final study documents
should be finalized in the first quarter 2012.
New Construction
Project Name: Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steak Burgers
Project Status /Details:
• Located at Orange Grove Road and Thornydale Road.
• Construction on the building has begun with an anticipated grand opening date of late
November or early December.
Project Name: Sargent Aerospace and Defense
Project Status /Details:
• The grand opening for the newly expanded building is anticipated for January 2012.

Community Health and Wellness
Project Name Community Marana
Project Status /Details:
• Marana Parks and Recreation Staff will arrange tours and /or speakers from various
community services. Community members can visit and gain more knowledge about their
community and the people /organizations that serve them.
• Friday, September 16 -Waste Management 10:00 a.m. -1 1:30 a.m.
• Thursday, October 6— Cal Portland Cement 8:00 a.m.— 12:00 p.m. (Ages 10 and up)

Founders' Day Festival
Project Name: Rotary Heritage Dinner
Project Status /Details:
• Thursday, October 27 at 6 p.m. at Heritage Highlands
• The Town has partnered with Rotary on the awards dinner
• Council will be forwarded details on the event as they develop
• If you would like an update on the current plan for the Founders' Day Festival please let
the Council Liaison know and she will schedule a time with Strategic Initiatives Staff.

Community Engagement
Proiect Name: Marana Forum
Project Status /Details:
• Citizen Advisory Commissions will be given a presentation on the concept on August 24
at 6 p.m. at the MMC.
• A presentation to council is tentatively scheduled for the September 13 study session.
Marana Police Department
Proiect Name: Training
Proiect Status /Details:
• MPD hosted the "The Leader's Role in creating Vigilant, Prepared, and Resilient Commu-
nities" course, which is designed to increase public safety executives' level of terrorism
awareness and preparation skills to engage the community in all- hazards, and anti -
strategies. Twenty -one individuals from Pima County and Maricopa County attended.

Human Resources
Project Name: Executive Search — Technology Services Director
Project Status /Details:
• After holding a comprehensive executive search process, the Town offered and Mr.
Carl Drescher accepted the position of Technology Services Director. Mr. Drescher com-
peted against an original applicant pool of 70 applicants. The final process included
a structured interview with a technical expert /management panel, a meeting with de-
partment employees with a question /answer session, a "Meet & Greet" luncheon with
Town management staff and a tour of the Marana community and facilities. Mr.
Drescher will begin employment with the Town on August 17, 2011.
Economic Development
Project name: Arizona Prospector
Project Status Details:
• The Town has partnered with a service called APS to list available office and industrial
properties on our website.
• The application is called Arizona Prospector, and was provided at no cost.
• The link is found under Economic Development on www.marana.com
• This replaces the old listing on our website, and is more user friendly for economic de-
velopment purposes.
• If you would like a demonstration please let the Council Liaison know so that a time can
be scheduled with Josh Wright.
Strategic Initiatives
Project Name: Council Strategic Planning Retreat
Project Status
• October 6-8 at the SkySong in Scottsdale, AZ
• The SkySong is a technology incubator and research facility supported by ASU and the
city of Scottsdale.
• In addition to updating the Strategic Plan, Council and staff will be participating in two
"field trips" while at the retreat in order to benchmark and learn best practices.
• The Council sub - committee will be selecting a facilitator for the retreat this week.
