The Council Executive Report is designed to give Councilmembers a briefing on
projects and events happening in the Town. The information in the report is
organized into sections based on the elements of the Town's General Plan: Natural
Systems, Built Environment, People and Community, Resource Management, and
Land Management. Also identified throughout the plan are Strategic Plan focus ar-
eas related to projects or programs.

Project Name Dove Mountain Boulevard from Tangerine Road to the Ritz-
Carlton
Project Status /Details:
• Within the next two weeks, the Town will be advertising to accept bids for work
to be done on Dove Mountain Boulevard, from Tangerine Road to the Ritz -
Carlton
• Work will include seal coating, and re- striping with a larger bicycle lane
• Staff will be contacting the Ritz - Carlton resort to make sure that work to the
roadway is done in conjunction with their schedule
Project Name: Tortolita Mountain Trails — Trail Construction
Project Status /Details RECREATION
• Tristin Schrader, Eagle Scout Candidate, Troop 299, constructed
a .1M connector trail from the Wild Burro Trailhead to the Wild Burro Trail on
March 24, 2012 as his Eagle Scout Project. Project included trail layout, sign
placement, and one drainage crossing.
• Color coded directional arrows have been added to trail directional signs. Colored
arrows correspond to Town of Marana trail
map brochure.
• Trail construction continues on the Ridgeline
Trail, 7.4 miles of multi -use trail above Ruelas
Canyon including a 1.8 mile Connector Loop
back to the northern end of Wild Burro Can-
yon.
• Construction is expected to continue through
2013 and funded by Pima County Bond Funds.

Project Name: Ora Mae Harn Park /Marana Pool Improvements
Project Status /Details:
• CDC Pools has started the re- plaster and
re -tile of the Marana Pool.
• The project includes new pool lights, lad-
ders, and an ADA compliant pool lift.
• Work is scheduled for March and April.
Project Name: Bus stop and shelters
Project Status /Details:
• The Town has partnered with University of
CDC Construction removing plaster
Arizona College of Architecture and Land- from Marana Pool
scape Architecture (UACALA) to design,
construct, and install two bus shelters on Marana Main
Street
• Once the first structure is installed, the MMC stop will be
relocated to the pullouts located across from the MMC
and adjacent to the newly opened M HC facility
The two shelters will service Marana's busiest route and
highest volume stop
UACALA students have been designing and constructing
the shelters as a part of their course curriculum. The
shelters will have sheltered seating for a minimum of
four occupants and one wheelchair accessible space.
The design also includes unsheltered overflow seating
for a minimum of four occupants and four wheel chair Example of bus shelter
accessible spaces; design that facilitates visual contact be-
tween the shelter occupants and the approaching bus driver; the shelters will
provide protection from mid -day solar exposure year round and maximize pro-
tection from morning and afternoon solar exposure during the summer; protec-
tion from rain and roof run -off; and be illuminated at night with solar powered
LED lights.
The shelters and groundwork will be completed in stages over the next 60
days. The construction schedule and alerts will be forwarded as the team gets
closer to installation of the shelters.

Project Name Collings Foundation Wings of Freedom Tour
Project Status/Details:
• April 20 -22 at the Marana Regional Airport
• Walk through times for the aircraft: April 20, 2p.m.- 5p.m., April 21, 9a.m.- 5p.m.,
April 22, 9a.m. -5p.m.
• The Collings Foundation is a non - profit educational foundation devoted to organ-
izing living history events that allow people to learn more about their heritage
and history through direct participation.

Project Name Camping Under the Stars
Project Status Details: RECREATION
• April 21 -22 at Ora Mae Harn Park
• This event includes story telling, a camp fire, crafts, park games and an outdoor
movie

Project name: National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)
9 -1 -1 Call Center Partner
Project Status /Details:
• The Marana Police Department has completed the required steps to become a
NCMEC 9 -1 -1 Call Center Partner
• This required hundreds of hours of training, drafting and adoption of new policies
and practices, and on -going checks and balances to ensure our 911 personnel
are always prepared to handle these potential tragedies in the most effective and
efficient manner
• By completing the partner program, the Marana Police Department has created a
child- centered 9 -1 -1 system
• We are the first municipality in the State to achieve this status with the National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Project Status /Details: INNOVATION
• After months of planning, the new Employee and Community Connections pro-
gram held its inaugural session on March 15 and March 21.
• On the 15 participants were treated with a tour around the town with presenta-
tions on planning, parks, CIP, O &M, and utilities. They finished the day with a
presentation and tour of the Courts.
• On the 21S those departments that did in
not present on the bus put together fun
and interactive presentations in the Con-
ference Center.
• There were about 20 participants. The
next Connections session will be May 3
and 9 and will follow the same format.
Project Name Marana Citizens' Forum
Project Status /Details:
• Thursday April 12 was the first meeting of the Marana Citizens' Forum.
• There are 20 participants from across the community who will partake in this first
Forum. Hank Peck and Matt Meaker will act as the Facilitator and the Recorder,
respectively.
The topic they will be discussing is "Civic Engagement." The tentative dates for
the next two meetings are May 2 and 24. The tentative date for bringing their
recommendations before Council is June 5.
