MEETING DATE: September 5, 2006
AGENDA ITEM:
TOWN COUNCIL
MEETING
INFORMATION
TOWN OF MARANA
1.10
TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL
FROM: Frank Cassidy, Town Attorney
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 2006-139: Relating to Mayor and Council; amend-
ing the Mayor's July 31, 2006, proclamation declaring the exis-
tence of a flooding emergency within the Town limits of Marana,
Pima County; and declaring an emergency.
DISCUSSION
Mayor Ed Honea issued a proclamation declaring the existence of a flooding emergency on
July 31, 2006. On August 8, 2006, Governor Janet Napolitano issued a declaration of emergency
for flooding in Pinal and Pima counties effective July 26, 2006, through August 4, 2006. Be-
cause the flooding emergency continued after the Mayor's July 31, 2006 proclamation and be-
cause the period of the flooding emergency needs to conform to the Governor's emergency dec-
laration for purposes of receiving State and Federal emergency financial assistance, it is neces-
sary for the proclamation to be amended. Since the emergency flooding conditions have now
passed, Town staff felt that it would be most appropriate for the Mayor's proclamation to be
amended by a resolution adopted by the entire Council.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends adoption of Resolution No. 2006-139, amending the Mayor's July 31, 2006,
flooding emergency proclamation.
SUGGESTED MOTION
I move to adopt Resolution No. 2006-139.
