RELATING TO PARKS AND RECREATION; APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING T'HE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
TOWN OF MARANA AND THE PIMA COUNTY REGIONAL FLOOD CONTROL
DISTRICT FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A PAVED PATH UNDER THE
CORTAR.O BRIDGE AT THE SANTA CRUZ RIVER
WHEREAS Recreation is identified as one of the five focus areas of the Marana Strategic
Plan II, adopted by the Town Council in March 2Q12; and
WHEREAS Initiative 1 of the Recreation focus area is to develop quality parks and
recreational amenities and the strategies for achieving this Initiative include completing path,
greenway and trail linkages with parks, recreation facilities, schools and other public
infrashucture within Marana, by identifying opportunities to partner with other jurisdiction�s or
private entities and providing connection points, benches, water fountains and restrooms; and
WI�REAS the Town and the Pima County Regional Flood Control District may contract
for services and enter into agreements with one another for joint ar cooperative action pursuant
to A.R.S. § 11-952, et seq.; and ,
WHEREAS the Mayor and Council of the Town of Marana find it is in the best interests
of its citizens to enter into this intergovernmental agreement.
NO�V, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN 4F MARANA, that the intergovernmental agreement between the Town of Mazana and
the Pima County Regional Flood Control District attached to and incorporated by this reference
in this resoiution as E�ibit A is hereby approved, and the Mayor is hereby authorized and
directed to execute it for and on behalf of the Town of Marana.
IT IS FURTHER RES4LVED that the Town's Manager and staff are hereby directed
and authorized to undertake all other tasks necessary to carry out the terms and objectives of the
intergovernmental agreement.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the Mayor and Council of the a, Arizona,
