Preseaited by the Mayor, the Town of Marana Branding Iron Awards pay tribute to those who have improvecl the quality of life for residents, businesses and and/ or visitors. Residents, non-residents or a family are eligitile to be nominatecl fqr The Town of Marana Individual Branding Iron Award. Private businesses, nonprofit or civic organizations are eligible to be nomina#ed for The Town of Marana Organization Branding Iron Award. individual Branding Iron Award The award is given to an individual or family who contributes to the Ivlarana community and has made a positive and lasting impacf; provided outstanding service; andJor shown a commitment to improving the lives of others, Organization Branding Iron Awacd The award is given to organizations that have strengthened the health and safety of the Marana community through partnerships; iimovation; perseverance; and/or contributes to the social and eeonomic diversity of the community. Nominations Nomination forms {attached} must include the contact information of the person submitting the material, the nominee contact information and a 400-word essay on why that individual or organization should receive the award. AI� �/i� Often referred to as the "Matriarch of Marana," Ora Mae Harn served on Town CouncIl from 1985-2001 and was mayor on two acasions: To fizrther recognize her commitment to the comma the Town in 2001 named a district park in her honor. She helped start and was later directar of the Marana Health Center and was instrumental in the formation of fhe Marana Community Food Bank. She was one of the founding members of the Mazana Rofary Club. She also founded and served as the first president of the Marana Herifage Conservancy. Under her leadership� the group`s mission became the preservation and appreciation of Marana's hisforythrough projects that include participation from residents and businesses. Purpose The Ora Mae Harn Crystal Legaey Award honors Mrs. Harn's dedication and service to #he Town of Marana by recognizing individuals or businesses that prornote her commitment to the ideals of the 'I'own and enhance its image fhrough exemplary volunteer service. Nominations ' Nominees cannot choose themselves, must be living, own abusiness or live in Marana, not be an elected official and not be a member of the selection committee: The selection committee shall be composed of citizens and representatives #rom various civic organizations. The award wili be given at the Annual Rotary Heritage Awards Dinner on Oct, 25, 2Q12. Selection is based on any or all of thefollowing criteria: • Imagination and extraordinary effort in developing and/or sustainingcreative solutions to community needs • Organization and direction of an activity of exceptional importance and complexity • Service in a leadership position and personal expertise that has e�abled the applicant to contribufe valuable service to the community • Exemplifies the spirit of community service . • Serves as a role model for others in the community • Inspires others fo engage in volunteer service • Develops and fosters the virtues and skills of civic engagement and sociai responsibility • Performs work fhat has facilitated better understanding and made a significant improvement in human relations, social welfare and justice arnong diverse groups 7 zo�z Manager's Corner er���r����a�r�������o��o�a�Y����������os����esr��aar���r Project Name: Town Branding and Brochures Project Status/Details • In an effort to increase the amount of information that we can provide our cus- tomers, departments have been developing new brochures for many of their pro- grams and processes. • The new brochures are part of our Graphic Design Standards Program, which has been successful in establishing a uniform and professional look for Town materials.
