Project Name: Continental Ranch Parcel 8
Project Status/Details:
As part of Marana’s dedication to roadway excellence, Continental Ranch, Parcel
8 has been identified as a roadway in need of specialized care.
The Town of Marana has determined that the best treatment option is to remove
the existing asphalt and re-pave. The work is anticipated to begin in June and
last one month.
A neighborhood meeting was held May 9 to answer questions regarding the pro-
ject. A schedule will be mailed to residents outlining the anticipated project se-
quencing to allow ample notification regarding traffic impacts.
Project Name: San Lucas Letter of Map Revision (LOMR)
Project Status/Details:
FEMA has approved a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) for the San Lucas develop-
ment, bringing the remainder of the community out of the Special Flood Hazard
Area (SFHA).
The 2011 flood insurance rate maps placed a significant portion of San Lucas in
the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), which is the type of floodplain that re-
quires flood insurance.
The Town council approved resolution 2011-092 in September of 2011, an
agreement with the San Lucas HOA to inspect and maintain the developer con-
structed floodwall. (It is a requirement of FEMA that a public entity maintain the
wall).
The agreement with San Lucas HOA requires them to set aside a portion of their
HOA dues in an account for the Town to draw upon for maintenance of the
wall. For any minor maintenance (graffitti removal, clearing brush, ect.), the
HOA will be given an opportunity to perform the maintenance prior to the Town
charging the account. The Town would perform any true maintenance of the
floodwall.
The LOMR has been approved with an effective date of September 10, 2012,
barring any technical appeals to the LOMR which is not expected.
