PAGES: ORDIN PICK UP AMOUNT PAID: 20132210166 2 08/09/2013 10:37 MARANA ORDINANCE NO. 2013.015 RELATING TO ADMINISTRATION; AMENDING TOWN CODE SECTION 3-1-3 (CLASSIFICATION OF EMPLOYEES) AND SECTION 3-2-12 (ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE) TO CHANGE THE POSITION TITLE OF ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE TO DEPUTY CHIEF OF POLICE; AND DESIGNATING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS the Marana Town Code, Section 3-1-3(B), lists the position of "Assistant chief of police" as an unclassified position of the Town; and WHEREAS the Town desires to change the title of this position while maintaining its at-will status; and WHEREAS the Town Council finds that the position title change established by this ordinance is in the best interests of the Town of Marana. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF MARANA, as follows: SECTION l. Marana Town Code Section 3-1-3(B)(11) is hereby amended by changing "Assistant chief of police" to "Deputy chief of police." SECTION 2. Marana Town Code Section 3-2-12 (Assistant chief of police) is hereby amended as follows (with deletions shown with st-r�l�ee�� and additions shown with double underlinin�): 3-2-12 �T De u chief of police A. Office established. The position of as� de u chief of police is hereby created and established in accordance with section 3-1-3. The �ss�i� d� chief of police shall be appointed, suspended or removed by and shall perform his or her duties under the general and specific direction of the chief of police. B. Compensation. The �R de u chief of police shall receive such compensation as the appointing officer shall fix at the time of appointment, and the compensation shall be a proper charge against the funds of the town. C. Duties. The �s#�t� de u chief of police shall be charged with the responsibilities set forth by and shall perform the duties of his or her office under the general and specific direction of the chief of police. Ordinance No. 2013.015 -1- r�� SECTION 3. The various town officers and employees are authorized and directed to perform all acts necessary or desirable to give effect to this ordinance. SECTION 4. All ordinances, resolutions, or motions and parts of ordinances, resolutions, or motions of the Council in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed, effective as of the effective date of this ordinance. SECTION 5. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, the decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
