Summer Edition 6 Resource Management Highlight on Marana Police Department The Marana Police Department has shown decreasing crime trends for the year. Both violent crime, and property crime are down, as well as, motor vehicle traffic accidents. Violent crime, which includes homicides, aggravated assault, sexual assault, and rob- bery is down 33%, while property crime which includes, burglary, larceny, arson and auto thefts is down 8%. Traffic accidents have shown an 11% reduction. Chief Ro- zema attributes these reductions to the officers taking initiative, targeting crime, and developing good programs. S.T.O.P., or Strategic Tactical Operation Plan, is one of the programs that was devel- oped to identify trends in crime, and develop action plans to create targeted patrols. Officers also use D.A.R.T., or Direct Action Response Team while in the field to re- spond to identified crime trends.
