Several improvements have been completed at the Marana Wastewater Facility:
Replacement headworks:
The headworks purpose is to remove
large solids and grit from the wastewater
before moving on to additional filtering
treatments. Typical solids collected in
the headworks include paper products,
large pieces of wood, plastic products,
clothing, sand, silt, glass and other dense
solids. The replacement headworks system
is significantly more efficient than the
previous system.
Equipment $90,221
Installation $79,736
TOTAL $169,957
Replacement tubes in the
treatment pond:
The purpose of the treatment pond is to
reduce the biochemical oxygen demand
and lessen the total nitrogen in the
effluent. This is done by microorganisms
working in the presence of oxygen (oxic),
or in the case of denitrification, absence
of oxygen (anoxic).
The oxygen is introduced into the pond
using air diffuser chains. These chains
create moving waves of oxic and anoxic
zones within the pond. This is known as the
Wave Oxidation process.
Equipment $185,401
Replacement curtain walls in
clarifier basins:

DESCRIPTION
Mailbox Vandalized. "Flag" was severely bent and paint
is scratched. Happened sometime before 2 pm on
12/30/13. Sighted an unfamiliar blonde haired juvenile
riding a black bicycle down the street when I noticed
the damage to the mailbox.
Area has smelled like a skunk since the middle of last
night down to Quil Mart area and permeating into home.
Early tag of graffiti guy in culvert S of Cortaro bridge east
of river. Never looked here before.
Yellow tags at culverts N of Cortaro bridge.
