Trade shows, conferences and sporting events have his- torically drawn hundreds of thousands of people to the Tucson region. These events have had a positive fiscal effect on surrounding communities. Pima County has had a facilities use agreement with the Chicago White Sox since 1996. The City of Glendale, Arizona, has applied to the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority for funding in the amount of $50 million to attract the Chicago White Sox to their stadium. This would re- sult in significant financial losses to Tucson, Pima County, and the adjacent municipalities. By this resolution, the Marana Town Council gives its vote of support to Pima County and the City of Tucson to continue major league baseball spring training for the Chicago White Sox at Tucson Electric Park.
