SUBJECT: Resolution No. 99 -43 — Intergovernmental Agreement between Pima County and the Town
of Marana regarding Hazardous Materials Response
DISCUSSION:
Pima County is requesting that the Town of Marana, as one of several jurisdictions in southern
Arizona, participate in an Intergovernmental Agreement between certain cities, towns, fire
district and departments in Pima County to allow for mutual aid and emergency response by the
Hazardous Materials team within those participating Pima County jurisdictions.
The purpose of the Agreement is to define the resources and personnel available to respond to an
uncontrolled release of hazardous materials and effectively manage such an event. A copy of the
Intergovernmental Agreement is on file for your review in the Clerk's office.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Council approve Resolution No. 99 -43 to authorize the Town
Manager to sign the Intergovernmental Agreement between Pima County and the Town of
Marana regarding Hazardous Materials Response, and further, to forward a copy of the signed
Agreement to Chief Smith of the Marana Police Department.
