C TO: Mayor and Council FROM: James R. DeGrood, P.E. , Interim Development Services Administrator SUBJECT: Authorization for staff to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the Town of Marana and Pima County for the design and construction of turn lane and traffic signal improvements at the intersection of Ina and Silverbell Roads. DISCUSSION: The Town and Pima County have contracted for services and entered into agreements in the past that have been mutually beneficial to both entities. Pima County and the Town now desire to cooperate in the improvement of the intersection of Ina and Silverbell Roads by adding turn lanes and a traffic signal that will benefit Marana and County residents alike. The attached IGA sets forth the terms and conditions for the design and construction of these roadway improvements. The total estimated cost of the improvements is $1,120,000. At the conclusion of the construction, the County will abandon the entire project roadway and adjacent rights of way lying within the town limits and the Town will accept it for inclusion in the Town's maintenance program. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Council authorize staff to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Town and Pima County for the design and construction of turn lanes and a traffic signal improvements to the intersection Ina and Silverbell Roads pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the attached IGA. SUGGESTED MOTION: I move to authorize staff to enter into an IGA with Pima County for intersection improvements at Ina and Silverbell Roads. PW /JRD /JCE/ 1:10 PM/02/11/15
